From the desk of Mayor Mike Rick:
As many of you already know, the Gilchrist Road construction project has begun. This project will include a total repaving of the section of Gilchrist Road that lies entirely in the Village of Mogadore. The total cost of this project is approximately $930,000. Obviously, that is a huge amount of money and the Village would not have been able to fund the whole job by ourselves without it affecting the Village’s budget adversely. However, the Village Engineer and I were able to obtain a grant from AMATS for $581,946 towards the project. We then worked with Summit County to release to the Village another $255,502 in Permissive License Tax funds to help pay for the work. After obtaining those monies, the Village will now only have to spend approximately $93,000 out of our own budget to complete the funding. It is fortunate that we are able to provide these improvements on Gilchrist Road and the Village will only have to pay 10% of the total cost.
